Gave it a five star rating. Great story. At last the fallen angels are back in the place were they should be and the world was safe again. The series was good I recommend it.
<minor spoiler> After having penned the four previous books in the series from the point of view of a fallen angel host, the author takes a different angle here and writes exclusively from the point of view of Detective Frank Hollingsworth. Frank's perspective (given he's been a feature throughout the series) brings all the disparate threads into tight focus. As events coalesce around him and his reluctant new partner, the protagonists form the preceding books are united in their frantic attempts to stop the subjugation of the human race by an army of fallen angels led by a mysterious "terrorist."
As usual, Daniels writes punchy scenes with crisp, succinct prose. The plot unfurls with easy grace, and we are granted full access to Frank's thoughts, feelings, and troubled past in a way that never detracts from the forward momentum of the story. Daniels has picked up from where the very impressive fourth Fallen Angels book left off and kept his foot on the gas.
There are some great characterizations -- Frank, his partner, and a good many of the bad guys, all of whom have their own vivid personalities and unique powers.
What I liked most about this finale, though, was that it's intelligently handled and takes into account all that has been built up before. No quick fix deus ex machine ending here; no Doctor Who tapping out numbers on a cell phone to destroy the Dalek fleet. The threat is taken seriously, and any action to thwart it comes at a great cost.
Thoroughly enjoyable series with some memorable characters and the complex interplay of gnostic-theosophic myth and science. Well researched, well-paced, and a strong conclusion worthy of the other four books.
I've read all the previous books in Valmore Daniels' Fallen Angel series. I was anxiously looking forward to reading the final book, ANGEL OF DARKNESS. As with all of these books by this author, I was pulled into the story from the opening pages and the tension and suspense continues to ratchet up with every chapter. Plus, I was blown away with this cover. It's amazing.
The first-person viewpoint of Detective Frank Hollingsworth lets the reader understand exactly what's at stake--mankind could be plunged into everlasting darkness if Frank can't figure out what the Fallen Angels have planned. The Fallen Angels from the previous books all come together to fight against an evil that will doom mankind. As Frank and an unlikely partner unravel the plot, they begin to realize how precarious the likelihood of their survival really is. I read page after page and couldn't put the book down until I knew what would happen. Long after I finished the book, I was still thinking about it and that's always a good sign that an author has touched you in some profound way. This book has that kind of staying power and will have you thinking about a lot of things. I'm a fan of Mr. Daniels and thoroughly enjoy his novels. I'm looking forward to whatever he has planned next. Highly Recommended.

This book was definitely a fantastically written finale to the previous four books. However, it wasn't entirely satisfying. A lot depended on this book in terms of tying together the almost completely unrelated first four. Moreover, all five of these books really had little in common besides characters and the main theme.
Moreover, I felt that characters from previous books weren't given the level of importance that they should have and the author introduced new, under-developed, characters into the mix.

The Watchers have patiently bid their time. And now it's finally time for them to take over the world. They've summoned enough fallen angels and found enough mortal hosts. And now they're turning civilians against their own government.
It's up to two police cops who can't stand each other and a few "good" fallen angels to vanquish all of these demons and send them back to where they came from. Or is it too late already?
One of the Watchers is planning on bringing back the worst fallen angel who has tried and failed many times to break through the barrier himself. Nobody is more powerful than he, and as soon as he is released, all barriers between Hell and Earth will disappear.
Will the world as we know it disappear?
Easy and quick read. Interesting how just five were able to bring down the evil ones. Written more for teens.
Good finish to a series. Kind of anticlimactic ending.
